HTTP and HTTPS

HTTP and HTTPS: with the Remote Access Service, you can easily make web interfaces of machines and devices available through the portal. Whether the underlying application uses standard HTTP or HTTPS, the connection in the portal is always upgraded to HTTPS, combined with a VPN tunnel for additional security. Additionally, a reverse proxy is used, allowing you to log in through the portal without complex network configuration.

How Access Works

Access is provided directly through the browser or via the Remote app. You log in securely and can operate the web pages as if you were local. This enables you to make configuration pages or dashboards available safely and quickly, without having to open additional ports in the network.

Adding an HTTP/HTTPS Service

Follow these steps to add an HTTP/HTTPS service to a location:

  1. Open the location of the relevant machine in the portal and add the device.
  2. Add a Remote Access Service and select the HTTP/HTTPS type.
  3. Specify the correct port used by the underlying web service.
  4. The system automatically configures the reverse proxy and VPN gateway to ensure secure connection handling.
