Connect EcoStruxure Building Operation for service and data
Last updated on 22 September 2026
You want a maintenance partner to inspect EcoStruxure Building Operation and use its data in a dashboard. Treat these as separate goals: a service session is not the same as a reliable data stream.
Find where building data is available
Schneider Electric describes BACnet and Modbus interfaces for EcoStruxure Building Operation. The points offered by your server depend on the version and building project. Request a checked list of available points, not just a dashboard screenshot.
Service through a restricted connection
Place the ServiceGate at the approved technical segment. Assign the location to the right users or groups in the Remote Portal. Use a configured web service for approved browser access, or VPN for required maintenance software. Test which role may only view and which may change settings: network connectivity does not create that distinction.
Turn building objects into a useful data list
Record source, object or register, data type, scaling, unit and interval for every measurement. Select the points explicitly when a Modbus export is available. For BACnet, assess the required driver or gateway. The ServiceGate configuration then defines the data sent to the agreed service.
Avoid overloading the building system
Start with a small point set and an interval appropriate to the application. A room-temperature trend need not be polled every second. Check server load, response time and existing integrations during the trial. Add points only when the source remains stable.
A practical acceptance test
- Compare a live value and a counter with the building interface.
- Check time zones, daylight saving and missing values.
- Test removal of a maintenance account.
- Agree a maintenance window and recovery procedure for software changes.
Use a measurement to ask a better question
A dashboard may show an air-handling unit running outside occupancy hours. It does not establish the cause or savings. Combine the trend with occupancy, schedules and local diagnosis. Remote Engineer helps configure connectivity and data transfer; the building integrator remains responsible for project-specific information and approval.
Access, data and ongoing management
All ServiceGate routers support remote access and data logging/monitoring. Available data and services depend on equipment and configuration. Manage locations, users and groups through the Remote Portal. Segmentation and suitable firewall rules limit access but do not replace security updates for the router and installation.
