How Remote Engineer manages remote access

With Remote’s Remote Access solutions, you gain secure and reliable access to machines, installations, and network equipment – regardless of where they are located in the world. No complex firewall rules, no open ports: everything is handled via a secure VPN tunnel and the central Remote Portal.

Remote Access at Remote Engineer consists of two main components: the Remote Access Services and the Remote Client. Together, they form a robust solution for industrial environments where security, stability, and ease of use are paramount.

Remote Access Services support a wide range of protocols: VNC, RDP, SSH, Telnet, HTTP and HTTPS. Through the Remote Portal, you can easily configure which service you want to use for a specific machine or location. The portal automatically forwards the configuration to the VPN gateway, after which the connection is established via HTTPS and an encrypted VPN tunnel.

VNC – Start a secure VNC session via the portal or the Remote app, protected by HTTPS and VPN.
RDP – Manage Windows machines via RDP over HTTPS and a VPN tunnel.
SSH – Start a secure terminal session via HTTPS and a VPN tunnel.
Telnet – Secure Telnet access via HTTPS and VPN, directly configurable via the portal.
HTTP & HTTPS – Remote Access Service automatically upgrades standard HTTP to HTTPS via a VPN tunnel and reverse proxy.

The Remote Client is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux and utilizes OpenVPN, TCP, UDP, and sTunnel for maximum flexibility and security. Centralized user management via the Remote Portal makes it easy to manage access rights.
