All ServiceGate routers also support remote access, data logging, and monitoring. Therefore, you do not need a controller solely for collecting measurements.

A controller becomes interesting if you want to run your own application, add control logic, or process digital and analog signals locally. Together, we will determine which hardware and software suit your installation.

Make your installation readable

Collect data via digital and analog connections or a suitable communication protocol. Together, we determine which measurements are available and how you can record them reliably.

02 / LOCAL PROCESSING

Align software with your process

Node-RED, Node.js, Python, CODESYS, OpenPLC and Docker are options for custom software and local processing. Node-RED is a development tool, Node.js a runtime, Python a programming language, CODESYS and OpenPLC are control environments, and Docker provides container support. We agree versions, drivers, resource requirements and any licences for your application; not everything is preinstalled.

03 / INSIGHT AND ACTION

Link data to the right people and systems

Make data available in dashboards or your own platform. Set up notifications and remote access, with appropriate user rights via the Remote Portal.

Also a basis for further analysis. Do you want to move toward predictive maintenance or AI? Then we start with a concrete maintenance question and sufficient reliable data. We test what is feasible; a controller does not predict malfunctions automatically.

A Smart Controller for REMONDIS at Schiphol

Together with REMONDIS, Remote Engineer developed the Smart Controller and associated software. This made installations remotely accessible and allowed data from pumping stations to be sent to an Azure cloud environment.

The application determined the solution. That is also how we look at your request.

Your installation does not have to be standard

An older control system, a proprietary data platform, or a protocol that does not connect directly? We investigate the link and develop customization where necessary.

We include security, network agreements, and user rights from the design phase. Testing I/O and control logic is also part of the configuration of your application.

Frequently asked questions about controllers

That depends on your I/O, software, and desired processing. The Edge Controller has more memory and storage and two analog outputs. For an existing Smart Controller application, we look at the software and connections used. Provide your project details, and we will compare based on content.

Not automatically. That requires an assessment of the control system, performance, I/O, safety functions, and software. A controller can also work alongside your existing PLC for data or additional logic. Together, we determine which role is appropriate.

We are happy to advise on this. We assess the software environment, required links, and management. Then we determine which configuration or development is needed and which licenses may apply.

Yes. All ServiceGate routers support remote access, data logging and monitoring; configure data logging centrally through the Remote Portal. Read when you need a controller.
