How Remote approaches security technically

Security is at the core of all Remote solutions. In a world where industrial systems are increasingly connected to the internet, a robust security architecture is not a luxury but an absolute necessity. Remote has built security from the ground up into every product and service.

In this documentation section, you will find a comprehensive overview of all security features and mechanisms implemented by Remote Engineer. From encrypted VPN connections to advanced login security in the Remote Portal and the mobile app — we explain step-by-step how your installation is optimally secured.

VPN connections form the backbone of security at Remote Engineer. All communication takes place via encrypted tunnels based on OpenVPN, supported on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Additionally, Remote Engineer offers three VPN protocols, each with its own field of application:

  • sTunnel – Routes VPN traffic over HTTPS, allowing you to connect securely without additional open ports and with minimal firewall adjustments. Ideal for environments with strict firewall rules.
  • UDP – The User Datagram Protocol provides a fast connection and is the standard choice for VPN connections where low latency is a priority.
  • TCP – A reliable choice for VPN connections, suitable for environments where stability is more important than speed.

In addition to VPN security, Remote Engineer places a strong emphasis on Remote Login Security. In the Remote Portal and the mobile app, you have multiple options to secure access. Remote puts security at the center and offers various options for remote login security in both the Remote Portal and the mobile app.

Remote Engineer is also ISO 27001 certified, demonstrating how information security is structurally organized to protect your data and processes. In addition, UL certification is available, providing assurance for exports to the US and Canada.
