Remote Client for macOS

Last updated on 8 October 2025

The Remote Client enables you to securely and easily connect to sites and devices via the Remote portal. This Remote Client for macOS installation guide explains step by step how to install, link, and use the client—so you can connect from your Mac in no time.

Installing the Client Software

In your browser, go to https://portal.remoteengineer.eu and sign in with your account. Click Manage clients and then Download. Choose the correct version for your system:

  1. x64 for Macs with an Intel processor.
  2. arm64 for Macs with an Apple chip (such as M1 or M2). You can check this by clicking the Apple logo in the top-left and selecting About This Mac.

Open the downloaded file remoteengineerclient-X.X.X-x86_64.pkg or remoteengineerclient-X.X.X-arm64.pkg. Click Continue and then Install. Enter your user password to confirm the installation and click Install Software. Once completed, the Remote Client is installed: the background service starts automatically and the tray application will automatically launch at startup on your Mac.

Linking the Client to your Portal Account

When using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, linking to your portal account is automatic. As soon as the link is successful, you will see a notification at the top of the portal with your Mac’s name.

Are you using Mozilla Firefox? Open https://localhost:8443, click Advanced, and then Accept the Risk and Continue. In Safari, go to https://localhost:8443, click Show Details, and then visit this website. After that, the notification will appear in the portal and your client will be linked.

Do not see the notification? Right-click the Remote icon in the menu bar, choose Copy Key, and paste the key in the portal under Add device.

Connecting to a Site

In the portal, go to Sites. Select a site: the Connect button turns blue. Click Connect. Once the status bar turns green, the connection is active and you can securely access your devices via remote access.

What else You should Know

The background service and tray application continue running in the background; you can recognize them in the menu bar. If you encounter issues during installation (for example, permission prompts for Install or Install Software), first check whether you selected the correct package (x64 or arm64) and that you are using the correct user password.
