Telnet

Last updated on 16 October 2025

Telnet via Remote is a simple way to access a machine’s command line directly. The session runs over HTTPS and is further protected with a VPN tunnel, ensuring your connection remains secure. You can use Telnet both in the browser and with the Remote app.

What You Need

You need a device that supports Telnet, access to the Remote Portal, and the correct Telnet port configuration. Make sure you have the device details and the port in use at hand.

Steps in the Portal

In the Portal, go to the machine’s location and add the device. While configuring the Remote Access Service, choose Telnet as the protocol and enter the port in use. The system will then automatically apply the correct settings on the VPN gateway so you can connect immediately.

Security and Compatibility

Although Telnet is an older protocol, it remains useful for configuring certain legacy devices. Because communication runs over HTTPS and through a VPN tunnel, the connection remains as secure as possible. Always specify the port in use and verify that the VPN gateway is configured correctly before connecting.
