Smart Controller – Capabilities and Connections
Last updated on 16 October 2025
The Smart Controller‘s capabilities are designed for industrial and technical applications. It provides a compact Remote platform with flexible interfaces and familiar programming environments, ideal for local control and cloud and IoT integration.
Programming Options
The Smart Controller supports multiple programming environments, allowing selection of what best fits the project. The primary options are:
- OpenPLC: an open-source PLC platform that enables the controller to work with IEC 61131-3 programming languages. OpenPLC makes the Smart Controller usable as a full-fledged PLC in both industrial and educational environments.
- Node-RED: a visual, flow-based programming environment for logic, data processing, and integration with external systems. Through the controller’s web interface, Node-RED is accessible directly and can be used for dashboard visualization, among other things.
Digital and Analog I/O
By default, the Smart Controller offers direct connections for sensors and actuators. The available I/O consists of:
- 16 digital inputs
- 8 digital outputs
- 4 analog inputs
This combination enables applications ranging from machine control to monitoring and data acquisition. For protocols and integrations, Modbus and MQTT are commonly used to send data to Data Monitoring or other systems.
Networking and Communication
For connectivity, the controller offers robust options: two Ethernet ports for connection to industrial networks or integration with other systems, plus a 4G module so the unit is reachable remotely without a fixed internet connection. If remote access is required, the platform supports that integration easily.

Flexible Integration
Thanks to the combination of I/O, networking features, and programming environments, the Smart Controller can be integrated quickly into existing infrastructures. Remote provides the foundation for both local control and integration with cloud and IoT applications, without unnecessary complexity.
