How NS provides access to its partners and maintains full control
The challenge
Within Dutch Railways (NS), the Service, Maintenance and Modernization departments are responsible for the maintenance of trains. The NS works with quite a few partners who need to be able to access their machines remotely, for example to fix breakdowns. A key requirement of NS was to be able to control who they wanted to give access to a location, to what level and for how long. Security and uniformity of the software were central to this.

Solution
We realized NS’ requirements by deploying our standard remote access solution in such a way that, as a director, it has full administrative control over the relevant users in our portal. This was also the best solution in the eyes of the NS, because smart, reliable, safe, uniform and flexible.
Realization
We placed our ServiceGate V2 in each machine within the production environment and advised NS on how best to assign permissions to users of our portal. In particular, these are machine builders and installers. These professionals are given temporary access to the PLC or machine by NS until the problem is resolved. After solving the problem, the connection to this PLC/machine is disconnected again.
