Remote access in practice
In collaboration with our partner Steven B.V. in Joure, we were involved in an episode of the RTLZ program “Doe maar duurzaam” (Do it sustainably).
Of course you want to set up your energy use as efficiently as possible – and not just for your organisation, but for your clients too. We can help you take the right steps so that you gain insights and control over this energy use.
Energy management means being able to put systematic measures into place to minimise the use of energy and raw materials. You can then identify problems early and base your decisions on the data from the various systems, so that your energy use becomes more efficient. Our specialism is creating secure connections with your equipment and systems and collecting data. Our platform is so user-friendly, you’ll always have insights into your energy use, wherever and whenever you want.
Our added value lies particularly in the fact that we work closely with our clients on how to remotely access installations, collate data, quickly respond in emergencies and provide a flexible portal. Our services are often used in combination with an existing energy management system.
Energy management frequently involves a number of parties and to ensure that an organisation or member of staff involved has the right level of access to the system, we have built a flexible platform. We can set this platform up to your exact needs.
Our Remote Access total solution is comprised of a ServiceGate industrial VPN router, web portal and client software. You can remotely manage and analyse the location you select, whether it’s a factory or a machine, using your desktop, tablet or smartphone.
Our ServiceGate industrial VPN routers are pre-configured and tested using your settings. Depending on your installations and needs, you can choose one of the following industrial VPN routers:

You can decide who has access to the installation or building and the level of access they have using our web portal, making unauthorised access to an installation or building a definitive thing of the past. This useful tool means you can manage all your projects securely. You can be assured the connection is secure to the max thanks to, amongst other things, our own user management system and 2FA verification.
Being able to manage your machines remotely means there’s no longer a need to actually be next to the machine in order to resolve a problem. Staff get authorisation in the system to each location that is coupled to their account and all that is required is that the free client software is installed. Once logged in, each authorised location can be easily accessed.
Operating systems use the various industrial protocols to exchange information. Data logging picks up on these protocols and sends the collated data to the next level up, such as Microsoft Azure, Google, Amazon AWS or your own solution. The industrial protocols we support include OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus and BACnet, and we have the in-house expertise to research and implement any other protocol.
Connections to the operating system are made on the router so that buffering can be done as soon as the internet connection is interrupted. Data is then sent using an encrypted connection to the various IIoT/cloud platforms using protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, http(s), XML and Json. Alternatives are also possible and if you work with unusual protocols or a protocol not mentioned here, then get in touch: we enjoy customising our services.

Presenting the data clearly in dashboards (that you can choose the setup for) gives you a great way of staying on top of insights into the real-time status, machine performance and, for instance, the state of parts subject to wear and tear. You can add various widgets in the dashboard so that the information and data is presented or exported in the right format. Visualisation turns data into information that can be used for decision making or making improvements.
Alarms & events give an immediate signal when something goes wrong with an installation or if a certain parameter is reached. You determine yourself how you receive these notifications and you can set the priority of the alarm and appoint users who have to be notified. Alarms & events sends notifications to your smartphone, email or tablet, wherever you are.
